Clinical Mental Health Counseling

I believe that the ultimate goal of therapy is change. My goal is to assist clients in identifying and exploring the options available, but the ultimate responsibility for change rests with the clients. With the differences in needs/concerns of each client, I follow an eclectic theory, but lean more toward cognitive-behavioral therapy and reality therapy. I am also trained in hypnotherapy and provide hypnotherapy in conjunction with psychotherapy. Every client during therapy deserves the utmost amount of respect, trust and safety.

About

Kristine Tschopp, LPC

I have been working in the mental health field for over 10 years and have a variety of experiences. I enjoy helping others and have always found this to be a dream of mine. I believe in change and desire to help others achieve their goals and improve their lives. I specialize in working with adolescents, but have experience working with a variety of populations. I have experience working with couples, families, adults, adolescents, and those with incarceration histories. Check out my About section for more information.

I have a Bachelor of Science in Psychology earned in 2013 and I have a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling earned in 2015. For over ten years I have been working with all age ranges struggling with a variety of mental health issues, including cognitive, affective, and behavioral conditions. I spent one year working at a residential facility that assisted adolescents who were struggling with substance abuse. For over four years I worked for the Children’s Farm Home, Trillium Family Services, (a juvenile residential mental health facility) and attended numerous trainings on trauma informed care, dialectical behavioral therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, collaborative problem solving, suicide awareness and prevention, motivational interviewing, and anxiety disorders. I worked as a mental health counselor in a psychiatric hospital for over a year, doing individual counseling and group therapy for a variety of clients. For the past 10 years I have been working with Adults in Custody as a mental health counselor, aiding those struggling with a wide range of concerns (severe mental illness, substance use disorders, gender dysphoria, serious suicide attempts, bereavement, etc.). I first started doing private practice, individual psychotherapy, in 2018 and have enjoyed working with a wide range of clients in the community. I enjoy working with clients individually, families, and couples.

In the Summer of 2020, I attended Heart-Centered Hypnotherapy, and started my journey as a Hypnotherapist. Hypnotherapy can aid in a variety of concerns, including substance use concerns, weight concerns, traumas, anxiety, depression, and more. In 2024 I was trained and certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
